Afterschool Tutoring and Summer Literacy Program

This program is one of our most inspiring programs! Our success rate is tremendous.

Our organization, volunteers, and donors are strong supports of youth development in this community. Through donor contributions, we’ve been able to support the High Hopes Program.

High Hopes is a daily Afterschool program that annually serves over 100 school aged children. The program takes place in three of Greenwood’s Housing Authority Neighborhoods.  The program provides a safe environment for high risk children to complete homework during the school year and reading literacy during the summer months. During the summer months the kids also receive a meal, literacy activities and recreation. In 2015 the program expanded to the Promised Land and Ware Shoals Communities.

In addition to the Y’s Annual Support Campaign, High Hopes receives financial support from United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties, Self Family Foundation, Greenwood County Community Foundation and YMCA of the USA.
