Board Approves Men’s Shower Room Project

The YMCA Board of Directors recently approved an improvement project for the Men’s Shower Room. The shower room side, not the locker room side, will be getting a new floor. The existing tiles will be removed throughout the ‘wet’ side which includes the sink area, urinals, toilet stalls, and the shower area. It doesn’t include the steam room since during a recent shut down that area underwent a major cleaning and recoating. The new floor will actually be a ‘paint’ product that will be easier to maintain and keep clean. The project also includes removing the wall tiles in the actual shower area and replacing those tiles.

The work will require the shower area to be closed for a week to 10 days. Final preparations are being made now and a firm start date should be announced within the next week.

The locker room side will remain open, however, there will be no access to the ‘wet side’. Adult men may elect to use the Men’s Family Locker Room if they wish.

The project plan includes doing a similar project in the ladies shower room at a later date.
