YMCA Youth Basketball builds healthy kids and offers one of the best ways for a child to get in shape through youth sports. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the sport in addition to learning how to play the game in a competitive manner. The program is designed to develop each participant’s skill set in the following areas: ball-handling, passing, shooting, dribbling, while learning how to apply aggressive defensive skills in a manner that is basketball appropriate.
Practices are conducted during the first two weeks, once during the week and once on a Saturday morning. Games are on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday at 6:00pm or 7:00pm depending upon age division.
Each child receives a t-shirt for games and a trophy or medal at the end of the season.
SHIRT – Please check to make sure your child’s shirt size is correct and email email@example.com by Monday, January 8 if it is not correct.
BALL – all players must have their own ball. This helps to develop skill both at home and at the YMCA.
BALL SIZES – U6 & U8 need size 27.5/Youth. U10 & U13 need size 28.5
Below is the information for the basketball evaluations. Please try to attend on the date and time specified for your child so that we can keep similar ages together for the evaluations.
Evaluations will take place in the single gym according to this schedule.
2010 – Monday at 6:15
2009 – Tuesday at 6:15
2008 – Tuesday at 6:15
2007 – Tuesday at 7:00
2006 – Tuesday at 7:00
Please bring your basketball, wear tennis shoes, shorts or sweatpants and t-shirt. You will check in at the front then proceed to the single gym.
