YMCA Youth Basketball builds healthy kids and offers one of the best ways for a child to get in shape through youth sports. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the sport in addition to learning how to play the game in a competitive manner. The program is designed to develop each participant’s skill set in the following areas: ball-handling, passing, shooting, dribbling, while learning how to apply aggressive defensive skills in a manner that is basketball appropriate.
Practices are conducted during the first two weeks, once during the week and once on a Saturday morning. Games are on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday at 6:00pm or 7:00pm depending upon age division.
Each child receives a t-shirt for games and a trophy or medal at the end of the season.
SHIRT – Please check to make sure your child’s shirt size is correct and email firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, January 8 if it is not correct.
BALL – all players must have their own ball. This helps to develop skill both at home and at the YMCA.
BALL SIZES – U6 & U8 need size 27.5/Youth. U10 & U13 need size 28.5
